Interview with Mike Robinson of Calverley Golf Club
1. How long has the golf course been open and when was the club made more accessible with accessible toilets?
The club opened in 1990, we bought it in 2000 and renovated it in 2012. The accessible loo was put in 5 or 6 years ago.
2. Do you have any members with disabilities?
Yes, we have members with upper body disabilities that play footgolf.
3. Do you have any adapted equipment for golf players that have disabilities?
No, but we have a golf professional who has experience of working with children and adults with disabilities. There is also full provision to our drones to see and access the golf course before coming to assess limitations, and we have golf buggies to help with getting around the course.
4. Do you have any accessible paths around the golf course?
Yes, all the way round.
5. Are there any improvements you think you could make and are there any plans for changes/improvements in the future?
We have just introduced footgolf which we hope will encourage more people to play golf that perhaps wouldn't of before. Unsure of any new improvements yet, but it will only get better. Golf buggies have been purchased to help people get around the golf course.
