On Thursday I went to the Yorkshire Playhouse because the BBC wanted to interview me about www.accessibleleeds.com. Interview on Look North soon.
My MP Mr Greg Mulholland has done something amazing. I am so shocked and really happy that Mr Mulholland has done something so great for me and disabled people in Leeds and hopefully everywhere else. Thank you. Nathan
This is what has happened he has said at Parliament...
Wheelchair And Mobility Access In LeedsEDM number 2622 in 2010-12, proposed by Greg Mulholland on 19/01/2012.
That this House welcomes the launch of the Accessible Leeds website by Leeds teenager and Whizz-Kidz Ambassador Nathan Popple, a website providing information to the people of Leeds on wheelchair and mobility access across the city; notes the work that Nathan has put in visiting shops, restaurants and other attractions in the city rating them on how wheelchair friendly they are; recognises the difficulties faced by those who are wheelchair users in accessing many public places; calls on more people to contribute to the campaign by highlighting locations where they have faced issues; and wishes him and all those who follow his good example the best of luck in expanding his website and pushing forward the campaign for better wheelchair and mobility access across the country.
I was coming home from school the other day and two window cleaners were standing on the street. They saw me and looked at each other and one said: "Aw bless him" about me.
I am 14 years old, I live with my family who are great, I am doing very well at school and I love doing this website.
I do not want people to feel sorry for me, I do not feel sorry for myself I am very happy with an amazing future ahead of me.
So, please don't bless me. If I want blessing I will go to church. Thank you.
I would like to say thank you to Gay Star News for talking about my website and my friends Scott and Tris who are the editors. Have a look here http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/lesbian-couples-wheelchair-son-launches-campaign
I have always liked the Prime Minister. He had a son who had cerebral palsy like me, I was really sad for him when his son died.
I am sad that the Prime Minister has made a joke about disability when he said talking to Ed Balls was like talking to someone with Tourette Sydrome.
A disability is not something to joke about
Thank you to the Yorkshire Evening Post for writing about my website today. I update it every day and am going to write about every place in Leeds city centre. Nathan
